Our commitment
We are committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We minimise our ecological footprint where we can, such as by using renewable resources, reducing waste, and sourcing local materials. Our underfloor heating and hot water is solar powered, we redistribute our grey water to irrigate the grounds and our pool is a salt water pool to reduce the need for chemical intervention. What you don’t eat, our chickens or compost will, we then mix that compost with bio-char, spreading it throughout our food beds to feed the soil for generations to come. This commitment not only benefits the environment but also aligns with the values of many guests seeking a mindful lifestyle.
Our aim is to provide a transformative experience where guests can escape the busyness of everyday life, reconnect with themselves, and emerge renewed and inspired. Whether seeking personal growth, relaxation, or a deeper connection to nature, leaders and guests are welcomed with open arms to discover their own path to wellness.
Come home.
With Love and Light, Ceri and Adrian Wynter
Meet the Team
House of Light is a family business! When Ceri and Adrian came together in 2012, Adrian had already been pulled to turn the crumbling old house and wild mountain landscape into a place for personal growth and healing, having benefited so profoundly from his experiences at various retreat centres around the world. Ceri is a Yoga teacher and passionate foodie. As a team, they built House of light whilst also birthing 3 children called Alma Rose, Zofi May and Arlo Muki, each born at home, with the support of our amazing community. The family grew as the House of Light emerged from the ground up. Eventually the exuberance of the wild mountain girls, and the arrival of a new born boy in 2022 bought about a move to a Finca, a stones throw from House of Light. Here they tend a 50 tree Olive orchard and a Permaculture, syntropic food forest.
Surrounding Area
House of Light is nestled in the Spanish Alpujarra mountains. Close to a town called Órgiva, which is a popular tourist visiting location, home to a unique community of international people. Órgiva is a traditional Spanish town, with a host of independent retailers, including local bakeries, organic cafes and health food shops. Plus a weekly food and craft market and lots of other cultural events typically on offer.
We are close to the historical cities of Malaga and Granada, the gorgeous Southern Mediterranean coastline, the famous ‘Alpujarra white villages’ and the Sierra Nevada National Park.
