About the venue

Quinta Marugo is composed by 3 main buildings, the common area, the rooms and the pagoda. They are all single floor and accessible easily. The main house is 100 years old, built in 'Taipa" or rammed earth, this allow the house to keep a constant temperature without having the need of air conditioning.

Our natural pool is located in the middle of the 2 main buildings, and the pagoda is situated on a hill 100 meter farm from the 2 other buildings.
Our veggie garden is located on the north side of the buildings and it is easily accessible.
We do have bees, horses and donkeys and chickens, so we can manage our garden in a completely sustainable way, following Permaculture principles. All our produces are 100% organic.

Serpa (10 kms) – A picturesque and undiscovered historical town in Baixo Alentejo, known for its architectural and cultural heritage (Roman aqueduct and castle)

Mertola (48 km) – Located on a cliff above the Guadiana River, Mertola is a peaceful riverside walled village. It was once one of the most important river ports in the Mediterranean and is often referred to as ‘the museum village’, due to its rich history.

Pulo de Lobo waterfall (Wolf Leap) (5 km) - Situated along one of the most dramatic stretches of the Guadiana river. According to legend, only a brave man or a wild animal when chased could leap over this gorge.
Minas São Domingo (30 km) - Take a plunge at the Praia da Albufeira da Tapada Grande (lake beach), an idyllic spot to enjoy the interior of Alentejo and spectacular sunsets over the water.
Wine country – Pias (15 kms) is famous for its red and white wines, whilst Cuba and Vidigueira (one hour away) are known for the millenary wine-making technique developed by the Romans called Talha wine.

Pagoda - a 70 m2 octagonal shaped wooden oasis, designed to offer tranquility and a deep sense of awe with its stunning panoramic views. Practicing mindfulness, yoga, Qigong, sharing circles or simply sitting alone and enjoying the view of endless rolling hills or of the rising full moon, will leave you with a profound feeling of peace, clarity and connection to what matters to you.
Swimming Pond - chemical-free and living water. Our beautiful swimming pond, where aquatic plants naturally cleanse the water, will leave you feeling refreshed, invigorated and chlorine-free.
The Arena - It is an outdoor area of about 300 m2 with a central fire pit for fire ceremonies, full moon ceremonies, dance and horse assisted activities.

Services: We do offer a range of services like: Breathwork Journeys, 9D Transformational Breathwork, Breath Well Coaching, Mindfulness & Compassion, 1:1 coaching, Nature connection, Hatha Yoga, QiGong practice, Horse assisted coaching, Deep Tissue Massage or Craniosacral Therapy, Sound Bath, Bird watching.
We do also offer services provided by third parties, like wine tasting, cork-trekking, canoeing, dark-sky, standup paddle.

Full Board: We pride ourselves on our commitment to delivering healthy and nutritious food, and invite you to visit our five bountiful organic vegetable gardens. Most of our food is sourced from our own vegetable gardens, beehives and trees, applying the permaculture principles of giving back to nature. The rest, like cheese, legumes, dry foods, grains and flours are sourced from local organic farmers and other sustainable sources.

All our home-baked goods and desserts are prepared with the natural sweeteners to avoid the use of refined, processed sugar. We cater for special dietary requirements such as gluten and wheat free diets upon request and offer vegan alternatives. Meeting the needs of our guests is a priority. Our guiding principle is that our mental, emotional and physical health is closely linked to what we eat. By embracing a healthy vegetarian diet during your stay, you will cleanse and detox your body, gaining in energy and vitality.
